Smarts of All Kinds

How do you know if you are smart or dumb?  Does it depend on your book smarts or your street smarts?  If you get good grades in school, are you necessarily smart or are you just trying hard?  Charlie Gordon was a mentally disabled 37 year old man.  He believed that if he was smarter, he would have more friends.  In many instances this is not the case.  For example, think of a stereotypical nerd.  A lot of “geeks” lack social skills because their brains are completely focused on all of their school work and do not have room to store social skills.  This makes them socially awkward.  On the other hand, the stereotypical “popular” crowd is dumb, but they have tons of friends.  We think that it depends on the kind of atmosphere an intelligent person is in and the amount of social skills they have.  It is difficult for a “nerd” to gain social skills when they are always being put down or bullied.  Although some people think smart people have more friends, we think that it depends on the personalities and social skills of a person rather than their level of intelligence.  Challenges are faced with both intelligent and mentally disabled people.  One problem smart people face is that they are expected to know everything.  They are asked questions about homework and classwork and sometimes they struggle to answer these.  On the contrary, mentally disabled people have very obvious problems they have to face.  Some of these problems include learning, making friends, and simple tasks the average person could complete with ease.  Mentally disabled people have the brains of little kids, but they are treated like adults.  It would be hard for anyone to learn if they had the mind of a toddler.

A-Aron
i have one brother and one sister a am the youngest. my brother is 18 and my sister is about 22. My brother is in the us army. Im not sure what my sister does. Im in eighth grade but i’m supposed to be in high school though i got held back in kindergarden. I only play one sport though baseball i used to play football, and basketball.

My favorite thing to do is shoot guns. I used to ride dirt bikes but i sold my dirt bike i still have a quad but its really old and the engine is blown up so its just a parts bike now. I also like to play video games but i don’t have like any of my games so i can’t really play it. Probably my least favorite thing to do is go to school. My second least favorite thing to do is go shopping with my mom. I have got’n kind of used to that though because i’ve done it for so long.

When i get older i want to go to college and after that join the Navy i’d rather not say what i want to do in the military though. I’ve wanted to go to the military since i was probably eight years old. I am originally from Humboldt county California. when i was 13 i moved down to San Jose with my dad i spent about 6-7 months down there but i didn’t really like it so i moved back to Humboldt county with my mom and then we moved to Utah. i have a dog and she is a Chocolate Lab and she is a puppy she’s really cute and she’s a little over 5 months old i already taught her how to shake, switch paws, shake with both paws, how sit, and how to stay. We are watching my brothers dog until he gets out of the military. He’s a Lab slash German Shepard.

Flowers for Algernon

Flowers for Algernon is about a boy named Charlie who goes to a school for people with learning disabilities. Charlie really wants to become smart. Charlie wants to become smart because he thinks that he will have more friends if he is smart. We think that sometimes smart people have more friends but sometimes smart people have less friends. It just depends.
Sometimes people like to hang out with smart people instead of people that are not so smart. People like to have smart friends because they want to hang out with people that know what they are doing and have common sense. People also like to have smart friends because they can help them with stuff that they do not understand!
However, there are some people that are really smart and they do not have many friends. This is because other people may think that they are a little bit “nerdy” or to smart to be around. There are people who do not like to be with people that are a little bit “nerdy” because they are not cool enough and they do not want to be seen with them. People may also not want to be friends with “nerdy” people because they might just focus on studying and not do other things with their friends. People that are really smart may not be as smart in the social world.
In conclusion, we think that sometimes smart people have a lot of friend but sometimes smart people do not have that many friends. People like to have friends that have common sense and people that are social.

The Grass Isn't Greener On the Other Side

Many people think that "smart" people have everything going for them. The fact is, they don't. We have been reading Flowers for Algernon.  Charlie, who is the main character has challenges and a learning disability.  Charlie strives to be smart to have friends.  However, people like Charlie and "smart" people both face challenges.  Charlie has been only exposed to a small amount of diversity.  He does not yet undersand that "smart" people are also face challenges regarding friends. They have loads of pressure put on them. "Smart" people are often teased about being too smart. Society has many expectations. It makes people think that there is a certain level of intelligence that is perfect and will allow them to fit in. There is no perfect level of intelligence, because there is no such thing as perfect.

Charlie's definition of "smart" may be (and probably is) completely different from what others think "smart" really is. Charlie may think that smart is when they can reach out to people without being criticized. Others see being smart as being able to get good grades, know every answer to every question, and be anti-social. It is hard to combine both of these views into one. It is like comparing apples to oranges. People like Charlie socialize with people who relate to them, and the same goes with "smart" people. So when Charlie becomes smart, then he might only hang out with people who are smart like him.

Finally, people only see the perks of being on the other side of grass. People aren't willing to see the negative aspects of another side. Only when they get to the other side will they realize that the grass isn't greener on the other side. This idea will never end; It's a cycle. Being intelligent has no real definition, because everybody sees it in a different way. Everybody is different, therefore, there is not such thing as an intelligence test. An intelligence test cannot test every detail of a persons mind.

Friendly Smarts?

There are many different stereo-types on smart people. In Flowers for Algernon Charlie wishes to be smart because he thinks that by being smarter he will get more friends. We believe that in this case it isn't the reason.  Whether or not someone is smart has friends is based on how they act and do things. Most people like Charley with disabilities look at things differently then the way we look at them. They are often ignored by others because of the same reason that they are different, but I believe it doesn't matter whether they have disabilities or not. People like Charley have many challenges in life such as being manipulated by others, they have trouble seeing things the way we do, they may have trouble understanding others, and they far more likely to be learning impaired.

People who are not troubled with learning are often facing many more problems than those who are. Many of them are constantly worried about what their future will hold or what they have done in the past. Insults are often taken far more seriously and they feud far more often. They are constantly seeking out their dreams despite the fact that most of them know that likely will never achieve it.

The reason why most people are unhappy in life is because they always want more. Many of the less intelligent people are happy with what they have. They have their own dreams and goals, but they are happy with what they have now. Most people in todays society are unhappy with what they have. They want more. They are pressured to fulfill goals and deadlines while most of the lower class citizens aren't pressed to do much.

Flowers for Algernon...Friends and Foes

Friends vs. Foes. When it comes to smart vs. dumb people, there is much more to it than just the outer layer, and the stereotypical ideas. In Flowers for Algernon, Charlie says he wants to be smarter so that he can have more friends. He believes that smarter people have more friends because they might be more popular.  We believe differently. Friendship isn't based on intelligence but whether your personality and similarities with others. Smart people can be spotlighted for friendship because they could be used.  They are the calculator in math, the people that will help you with your homework and the people that will help you do better in school.  This is why they are targeted as friends, but they don't always have friends because they can be know it alls.   But, smart people are just like dumb people, they are just more in tune with some academic skills. Dumb people aren't really dumb, they just aren't as skilled as others in a certain topic or area.  They are tagged as stupid and such, but sometimes they can be the nicest people and will have many friends. But that isn't always true. Smart vs. Dumb is all a big stereotype.

People like Charlie are autistic but that doesn't classify them as dumb, doesn't mean that do or don't have challenges that regular people have.  People all have the kind of challenges.  An autistic child or adult will have to work harder and that can be a challenge but how do children get smart in the first place.  Some challenges that both categories have alike can be family problems and social problems.  They both might be going through the situation of divorced parents, or losses in the family.  Both groups will have fights with friends and will break apart or join with other people.  Parents of 'smart' children might have higher expectations of their children, which will stress the adolescent and maybe add more challenging situations.  Parents of autistic children want their child to do well and might not apply as much pressure on the child, and just hope for average skill.  But that doesn't mean that they are any less intelligent that the average person.  In Flowers for Algernon, Charlie was taking a test of sorts and they help up ink blots.  He said he didn't see anything in the ink blots, while others might see a frog, a person, etc.  People might not connect things in their minds as other might.  People don't see things the same way.  This can be presented as a challenge but all challenges can be overcome.

Challenges are there for both 'smart' and slower children.  The challenges can be different and they can be the same. Challenges like divorced parents, mean groups, and such are alike for both.  Challenges such as more pressure are alike for both.  Slower children may be confined or cut out, and smart people may be crowded or overcome with assignments/pressure.  Always know that challenges can be overcome.

Smart vs. Regular

We think that how many friends you have is not based on how smart you are. It depends on your personality. If you are really smart you will have friends that are very smart as well. When someone is exceptionally smart, people call them nerds and they may not have as many friends as an average person might. However, some of the most popular people are very smart, and they have a lot of friends. It all depends on the person's personality, and how they act with their peers.

Challenges that people like Charlie have could be things like people underestimating them or thinking that they are not smart. A lot of people with disabilities or learning disabilities are thought of as dumb, but that says nothing about how smart or dumb they really are. In school, children with disabilities don't take the same classes that the "smart" people have. They have to take classes of their level of learning. In the movie, Charlie really wanted to be chosen for the experiment because he wanted to be smart. "Smart" is not always measured by the amount of work you do and the grades you get, but by how much you actually understand. Some of the smartest people in the world failed classes, but they are still the smartest in the world.

"Smart" people do have challenges because their parents expect more of them and they have to work harder. Smart people try to take harder classes in school, because it could give them the opportunity to make them "smarter". Another challenge that exceptionally smart people might face is being called nerds or geeks. They are called names and picked on because they stand out from the rest of their class and people think of them as gifted, which means that they are not normal.

Naughty Noah

My name is Noah, and I live in the terrific mountain town of Park City. I enjoy playing lacrosse and skiing. I have lived in Park City for my entire life and am of the Jewish faith. Currently I am telling you about myself because I was assigned a very fun task, I am required to complete a blog about current events in my life.

Last night something that is very important to me started. It was my first lacrosse practice and running around again was awesome. Lacrosse has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember and I have never disliked it in any way at all. Last season my team went to the state championships and unfortunately we were cheated out of our win by Brighton. This season I am hoping to go back and take home a victory. Playing lacrosse has helped me overcome many challenges in my life and I would like to continue to play throughout college.

Another thing that is very relevant in my life right now is my summer plan. I am heading out to a music festival in Colorado, then a lacrosse camp in New York, I will then hop onto a plane to Vermont to visit my Grandma, and then the big finale is my trip to the Galapagos islands for my Grandma’s 75th birthday. As you can tell I have a very well established reason to be excited for June 6th, 2013. That same day is also the state lacrosse championship that I previously talked about. June 6th will be a very full day for me.

Anyone Can Have Friends

Flowers for Algernon is a story about a thirty seven year old man that has optimism.  A lab wants to experiment with Charlie to help him improve his learning.  They are testing how fast his brain can work.  He has to work through mazes racing a mouse named Algernon and see who wins.  His teacher Ms. Kinnian believes he can be intelligent.  Charlie wants more then anything to be smart.  He thinks that if he is smart he will have more friends.
We think that everyone can have friends no matter who they are.  It does not matter if you are smart or not.  It really just matters if you have a good personality.  Charlie works at a bread shop were he gets bullied.  He doesn't really catch onto it, he just laughs with them.  Charlie has optimism so he has to work harder then everyone else.  He has to work hard to learn but he wants to be smart.  Charlie gets frustrated very easily with the tests they have him do in the experiment.  We think Charlie has challenges but he can overcome them if he wants to.
If anyone sets their mind to something and they are determined they can do anything.  Everyone has challenges.  Some are harder then others.  They can be with family or with school.  Pretty much with anything.  You can’t really categorize people in groups.  Everybody is equal, we all have strengths and weaknesses.  Charlie has challenges that are different then someone else but that doesn’t make him any different.  He is a person who faces many things a day.  Just like anyone else.
Everyone has something in their life that is hard for them and that is just how life is.  Anyone can overcome a challenge and be what they want.  They are in control of their lives and they can make their own decisions.
All in all, Charlie is a kid who doesn’t let anything set him back. He is really determined to learn and he is fortunate to get to be in this experiment.  There are always challenges in the way but you have to face them and bring them down.

Standing Out

In our opinion, smart people don’t have a lot of friends. We think that clever people are the ones with the friends. Clever people are usually really funny and people like funny because it makes them happy. Who doesn’t love to be happy? Smart people are really good at school. We think that people become smart because they are not good with their social skills. If they are really awkward around people, they usually tend to stay away because they don’t like that “awkward” feeling so they become good at what is usually an individual thing which is school. People like Charlie face challenges every day. People bother him so much that he doesn’t know the difference between an insult and a complement. If people made fun of Charlie and started laughing at him, he would think that the people are laughing with him. I would have to agree that smart people have challenges. We are not talking about the challenges that they face at school, We are talking about the problems that they have with their peers and the public. They challenge themselves with being social and stepping out of their comfort zone. In some cases, people are trying to push them away but if you are getting pushed away, you are trying to be friends with the wrong people. Smart people tend to think that they are being pushed away when in reality, they are not. It doesn’t really help if you are smart with finding friends, being witty is the key to getting friends because once again, witty means that you are being funny. We believe that smarter people set higher expectations of themselves then people like Charlie do. Setting these expectations brings up the challenge of living up to what you set out to be.

This is not a fun blog article....

Hi people from Earth my name is Ana I was born in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I am writing a boring blog. My first language is Spanish my second language is English. My English is not good, My Spanish is somehow amazing. I am not a famous person... Yet, I like to read and write fun creative random subjects or sometimes it comes out of no where and I just start to write, if i see someone or something that I like. I make a change and write it down.. If your comparing me to someone your wrong, I am way unalike like other people. I enjoy writing short stories but mostly I like to write Fan Fiction. My favorite color is purple, blue, black and sky blue and basically I like neon colors. I sometimes write on my papers ‘T.N.I.S.Y’ it means The Night Is Still Young, Your still young and enjoy your life for now because as you get older you’ll never get younger. I talk to my friends in Spanish so no one can understand it, my English teacher tries to speak Spanish. She calls it Spanglish, mixing Spanish and English. I don’t ski or snowboard, I love to eat grapes with sugar and some spicy things. I love to eat chips with a lot of spicy sauce, I like to take random picture with my friend, I don't like to start drama..

This is me!

Hi my name is “ America ” you might wonder why I have a name like this well you can go ask my parents why they would put such a dorky name like that. I am from Mexico but my parents and I came to the Unites States to have a better life supposedly them but I don’t really see why we had to come I am just kidding. I really think it was a tremendous idea. If you have notice I speak to languages my first language is Spanish and my second one is English. I have a little brother and his name is “Israel” he six years old but his about to be seven years old his growing up so dam fast. Well any who I think this is my first blog that I am doing if it wasn’t for the tremendous, remarkable, extraordinary, the clever English teacher Ms. Hooker I wouldn’t be doing this thingy. I am a very shy girl I have a soft spot to that is I don’t really like talking out loud because of my timidness. But I hope to grow out that hitch along with that I also have a quiet voice. However once you get to know me I am become tremendously loud person. I have these stunning friends that are always their for me when I need them. I like to ski, swim, and play soccer there my favorite sports. I am not a glorious at my favorite sports but all I could say is that I am good at playing them. This is me..!

What I like to do!

Hi my name is Israel, I have a twin brother and a big family. I like to ride bikes, swim, and also like to ski. I am not a big fan of school because I think that they leave us to much homework and a lot to do in every class, If they leave us less homework then we would not have that much stress. I also like to hang out with my friends outside and do random things. My favorite colors are blue, purple, and green. I had a lot of pets since I was little. The pet that I most liked was the turtles and a dog. I liked the dog because he would be fun to play with and I could go outside with him and take him for a walk. I liked the turtles because you could hold then and they would do nothing. I like summer more than winter because in summer you could do a lot of things. For example in summer you could go swimming, play soccer or sports, hang out with friends outside, have a water boll on fight and a lot more things, but I also like winter because I get to go skiing and sledding to. I play soccer with my friends in the summer. In summer you could do more things than in winter.  My twin brother and I play many jokes on my parents and other people to. If I do something bad and my mom finds out I blame it on my bother, or if he does something bad he blames it on me so they will never know who did it. BYE!!!!

It's Marisa!

Hi, my name is Marisa and I am 13 years old. I have lived in the same house my whole life. I live with my mom, dad, my younger brother, and my crazy dog, Oz. I like to play tennis, lacrosse, and ski. I have been skiing since I was 3 years old. I have played piano since third grade and I am planning to keep playing. I also enjoy traveling and going to the beach.
One of my favorite things to do is bake! During the summer, I bake almost every week. I make all sorts of different treats but my favorite thing to make is cupcakes. Cupcakes are my favorite thing to bake because I love decorating them (as you can see from my picture). Oh, and I love to lick the beaters and eat the cupcakes when they are finished!
School is not my favorite but I do like learning new things. Surprisingly, math is my favorite class unlike so many other students. English on the other hand is for sure my worst subject. I mean even doing this assignment and typing 250 words about myself is kind of hard!
I also love to hang out with my friends, go shopping, and watch “What Not to Wear”! I enjoy hanging out with my cousins. I also love to babysit and be around little kids. I love to help people. During the summer, I like to go to our cabin on the lake and paddle board, wakeboard, tube, and make smores with my friends! Oh, and I am very short, I have natural curly hair, and my favorite color is lime green.

Do you like car? Well am Fernando and this is What I like to do when am in school. What I like to do in school its been with my friends and have a cool time because that what I like in school. What I also like to do its that I like to do drawing and WHat I draw the most it’s do Graffiti a lot because that it’s one of my favorite things I love to do in my free time. What I also love to do it’s do watch cars and learn new things about cars and how they work in the inside and outside. That what I love to do in my free time, well What i think its the most embarrassing thing I remember and it was funny it was that when I was six year old in my birthday party They give me a Spongebob squared pans cake. I was so happy that I eat almost most of the before the party even started. So when it was time to bring the take to the table it was only like half of the Spongebob cake. and all my cousins and uncles ask they’re self who eat my cake but it was me the one who eat it all before the party stared. I never told them it was me because If I did I wouldn’t get any cake anymore because I eat most of the cake that it was my for my party. Well now that your what happen to my spongebob cake I will like to talk about how I am, what’s favorite food, and more about.

Hunter? What hunter?

I am Hunter. I enjoy playing most kinds of video games. The games that I prefere are games that have action, require skill, and have in depth strategies. I have trouble sitting still for long, even through a movie, and I have the attention span of a goldfish. My favorite pastime is playing games with my friends. We often enjoy competition with or against each other. The games that we usually play are extremely competitive. My favorite foods include dumplings, corn beef, and cake. I tend to procrastinate and lose track of stuff. If you have a job to do that will be tedious, time consuming, or involves little or nothing tasty, you're better of getting someone else to do it. I have never been able to stand anything like that. I will always find some way to entertain myself, or I'll go crazy trying. Once you get through my laziness I'm a really nice guy. I hate seeing anyone or anything in pain or distress.

The Basics

Hi I'm Madeline. I don't like people to read or see what I do, so writing this is hard. So I'll just tell you some basic things about me. I love Harry Potter, I hate games, I hate center of attention, I love fantasy, and my spelling is very very awful, same with my writing. I also hate when people call me Maddie/ Maddy. Making friends is easy for me, I love laughing, I’m learning guitar, and I love country music. When I get better at guitar I want to learn some country songs. When I get out of high school I want to go to a beauty school and learn how to do hair, a hair stylist. Another thing about me is I have a big family, nine people. I’m second youngest, my twin brother was born before me making him third youngest. I have blue-gray eyes and when I draw people I draw them with blue eyes, I know that I should mix it up but I love blue eyes. Not bright blue, dark blue. I am interested in how the human brain works. I want to know what is different between someone that has a learning disability and someone that has no disability.

Meaning behind my name

I had been to three different countries before I was seven.  I was born in Mongolia, then I moved to Japan, and lastly I came here.  As my title says, my name has a meaning.  Before I was born, my mom (eej) and dad (aave) wanted a cheerful, happy, and polite daughter.  My full name means happy helper.  It may sound corny but it's my name and I have to stick with it.  No!  I will not pronounce it for everybody.  After eight years of pronouncing it, it gets annoying.  Bringing a little background about my family, they are artists.  My grandfather (uwoo) is a famous artist in Mongolia and my grandmother (emee) used to be an actress and an opera singer.

To have a laugh, one of my embarrassing moments was in English.  Yes, in this class.  We were getting out our computers and I opened mine.  I slowly peeked and suddenly music blared out to the classroom.  My computer froze and I couldn't mute it.  My face turned tomato red and I closed my laptop.  Of course my music wouldn't turn off.  Even if I closed my laptop.  The worst thing about the embarrassing moment?  The music was Korean so everybody was confused. Yes, I'm weird but I like Korean music.  After I went to Mongolia last summer I was immersed in the culture.  Korean pop stars and groups are the hippest things ever!  When I came back, I was obsessed with them.  Sadly, in the town where I live, not one single person likes Korean music.  Except for the song Oppa Gangnam Style but I don't like that guy.  Oh, I almost forgot, my favorite color is pink.

Please, Call Me Danisaur

Truth is, I really don't know what to write. It's a lot harder to write about yourself thank you might think. My name is Dani, and my life is really nothing extraordinary. But I try to make the best of it, because you know, #YOLO. My friends call me Danisaur. I love hanging out with my friends because they make me laugh more than anyone else ever could. I also love quotes, and I'm not entirely sure why, but I like them. I honestly do try to be nice to everyone I meet or come across during the day, because I would want people to do the same to me. I have two brothers and one sister, they are all older than me. I also have 4 dogs, and sometimes I love them more than my friends and family. A lot of people say that they wish their dogs could talk. But I don't want my dogs to talk, they know to much!
Oh, and music is vital in order for me to survive (I'm obsessed with Macklemore, all my friends know that). I also don't know what I want to be when I grow up, and I hate it when people ask me. I have no idea where I want to go to college either. However, one thing that I do know is that I want to live in California. Or maybe somewhere in the mountains, I really don't know yet. I'm only 14. Oh yeah, I also hate the word hipster.
The best thing about my life, other than life itself, is soccer. I love it with my whole heart, and I can't picture my life without it. Soccer is the best for just clearing your mind, and letting nothing else in the world matter to you. My soccer team and coaches are my second family. Whenever I'm upset about something, or I just need to think clearly, I go outside and kick the ball around. As long as I have a soccer ball at my feet, nothing else matters.
I really like wildlife too. Maybe that's what I can do when I grow up. I can be a photographer and take pictures of nature and animals and things like that. Or maybe I just said that because there is a moose outside my window right now. Either way, I think it would be pretty cool to be a wildlife photographer
I also can't wait for summer. I mean, seriously, who likes snow? It's cold, wet, and extremely unpleasant. In the summer, the sun is shining, and everyone is happy.
Oh, and I have braces. They suck.
Well, I don't really know how I ended up talking about braces, but that's me summed up in about 300 words.

My name is Alec, I have three brothers but I don't have a sister. I am so glad that I don't have a sister because they are annoying and like to get you in trouble.  Brothers are mean sometimes but they can also be a lot of help and be very nice.  At least that is how my brothers are, some brothers might be different.  I used to have long hair when I was in elementary school.  I cut my long hair off and left it short for most of the year.  In Seventh grade I had long hair again for most of the year, until I got sick of it.  After that I cut all of my hair off and I have had short hair ever since then.  I have two dogs, their names are Koda and Maverik.  Maverik is a 1 year old German Shorthaired Pointer.  Maverik is manly white but he has a couple of brown patches and brown spots.  Koda is a seven month old, white Labrador Retriever.  When I was little I had a hamster that was really cool but he died after about a month.  I have only moved one time in my whole life.  It was in the same state I just moved to a different area in the city.  My old house was really cool but the houses were to close together. My new house is just as cool and the houses are not as close together so it makes the yard way better.

Cancer, Sharks, Platypi, and.. Oh yes, myself

First off, sharks do get cancer.  I just thought I better clear that up real quick.  Mainly because everyone seems to think that eating shark cartilage will keep them from getting cancer.  However this doesn’t work because sharks do get cancer.  The only problem is we don’t know how much they do because people keep killing them!  I thought I might throw that out because it annoys me. A lot.

Also, I’d like to clear up that as it might seem now I am not strangely obsessed with sharks. That would just be ridiculous. No, I am strangely obsessed with platypi (or platypuses or whatever you want to call them), not sharks. If you don’t know what a platypus is just look up on the page and you’ll see one.

I don’t think I have properly introduced myself yet. Have I? No I’ve just complained about people eating sharks (which is still one of the stupidest ideas I’ve ever heard). Anyway, my name is Sam. If you are a creepy thirty year old reading this blog, then no I am not going to tell you my last name. And no I will not meet you in the alley behind the Panda Express. The only reason I’d ever go there is that it smells greatly of spring rolls. I like spring rolls. I also like noodles and really most asian foods (unless it’s shark). However, my favorite food is easily sushi (unless it’s shark sushi).

I assume you’re getting tired of me bringing back the sharks by now so I will stop. In fact I think I will stop all together. In a quick recap, my name is Sam, I love platypi, and my favorite food is sushi. Also, sharks are NOT the cure to cancer.

Lee Thats Me

Hi, my name is Aydon.  I love to ski in the winter and long board in the summer.   I also play lacrosse in the spring and fall.  I ski every day of the week for about three hours each day.  I long board almost every day of the summer.   I also take school over the summer so that I can get out of school early during the ski season.  I only play lacrosse because I want to at least play one team sport and I am getting better at it each year.  I play defense and really like it.  I play on the right side and sometimes I play middle.  I am currently learning how to speak chinese and I am getting pretty good at it.  I also am in band and I play the Oboe and I am the only one in the school who does.  My favorite class is Chinese because I am always learn more and more each day.  We always are working on something new and we barley ever get any home work.  I travel for skiing and have been many places in North America.  I have been all over the western coast, central America, and Alaska once.  My life is very exciting and I enjoy every part about it the skiing and all.

Troublemaker Years

When I was little I was a troublemaker. I was always in trouble for something. Something was always broken in my house with me to blame. I got grounded for throwing a metal coster at my brothers head. Luckily I missed and hit the wall. Sometimes my brother would have friends come over and I would
cause mayhem for all of them.

Once me and my best friend were bored so we sat outside and started to throw rocks across the street. It ended up as us throwing rocks at my neighbors windows. We got caught and I was grounded for a mouth with no allowance or any electronics. I also got broke a hole in my giant brick wall in my backyard with a sledgehammer. I tried to cover it up with grass and chalk but it did not work they still say it after a month had passed.

When I was in kindergarten I had to go to time out because I kicked someone in there no no’s. I did not want to go to time out so I started to fight back. I punched the teacher kicked her punched her and pulled her hair. I latter got expelled. Usually when I get angry I start to destroy stuff. I am still like that but not as bad.  Being destructive was a regular thing in my life but as I grew up I became less and less destructive. I hardly get in trouble for something unless it is grade related but thats another story.

s k i i n g + l a c r o s s e = l i f e

Hola, me llamo es Julia...just kidding I speak English. I love skiing, it is basically my life. I also play lacrosse. My dream is to go to Dartmouth College and graduate as a neurosurgeon.  Writing is a very hard thing to do, although it is even harder when you are talking about yourself.

I'll go on the topic of skiing, I am a ski racer. People have a general understanding of what a ski racer/ski race team is, but it is much different than what other people think. My team is like my second family. No matter how much we try to stay warm it will NEVER work, especially not with the boots as tight as ours. There is many more things I can say about skiing, but I promise it will come.

Lacrosse is a secondary sport for me. I do it as a time killer, I do not care if I win or loose a game. Even though I do not love lacrosse, I enjoy it.  It is a fast growing sport here, along with the east coast. More kids should join lacrosse because it is a fun activity.

Heres a little more about me:
I will never be able to choose between summer and winter. Who could? In summer hair gets lighter, skin gets darker and you are able to wear what ever you want. On the contrary winter is my ski season, and too me that is a huge reason to love it. If I had one wish it would be, to be able to go to college and be on the World Cup circuit at the same time. This is looked at by many people as “impossible”,  I just tell them my definition,  impossible: something that is very difficult but can be done with determination.

A Rose By Any Other Name Would Worry Just As Much

No matter where I am, and what I'm doing, I will worry. That's just me. If I calculated how many hours I had only worried thoughts on my mind, there would be an uncountable amount. I worry about everything from classwork, to vacations, to being late. My parents and siblings tell me that I am just like my Grandma because she worries also. It is human nature to worry, although I'm pretty sure that the amount that I worry is completely unnatural. I can't help it! Well, not really.

My name is Rose. If you looked at me, you might think that I'm pretty average, until you got to know me. My personality is very.......... unique. I'm short, and pretty athletic. I did gymnastics for ten years and competed at Level 9 nationally. I stopped a few months ago, but am thinking about going back. I also am a complete brainiac.

As I said earlier, I worry about everything, one of those things being school. I panic about tests, no matter how hard or how easy it is said to be. A few days ago, I had a math test. It was the Quarter 3 final which had material on it dating all the way back to Quarter 1. I was scared out of my wits for it. I was especially scared for the exponent questions. I asked my dad to help me figure some practice questions out, and eventually got it. Today I checked my grade, and found out that I got 107% on the test! That is just one example of me worrying for a not-so-good reason. Hopefully, when I get older, I will grow out of this annoying habit.

Mintz are Fresh

Hi, My name is Jack and I like to ski and play lacrosse.  In lacrosse I play attack.  I compete big mountain skiing.  This is my first year competing I used to ski race.  I was born in New York City and lived there for nine years.  I once threw up all over the ski team locker room in front of some people.  This was really embarrassing.   I have had some injuries.  I have broken my wrist three times.  Twice on my left and once on my right.  I also got a concussion skiing this year.  I kneed myself in the face on a compression.  I started wear a mouthguard while skiing.  I have also learned it is very easy to knee yourself in the face while skiing.  I came off of a cliff at my competition and kneed myself in the face it gave me black eye.  This was never a problem for me when I was ski racing.  I enjoy big mountain skiing much more then racing because I have much more freedom of what I can do.  This makes it much more fun for me.  This summer I will be water ramping to practice flipping on skis.  This way I can do them on snow and compete with them.  I am really excited to do this in the summer.  I will be able to play lacrosse as well.

Climbing, Daring, Snakes...Oh My!!

I will just put it easy and clear, I am different. I try to be normal and fit in to society but to tell you the truth, I really can't take anybody seriously. I love to joke around and the world is my giant playground. My friends are just as crazy so we complete each other like a puzzle. Some people may look at a rock wall as architecture, I think of it as a great wall to climb. Daring is my middle name (not really) and I will do anything. I do have a weakness though. Snakes. Snakes are the scariest thing in the world and if I encounter one, I scream, shout, run, etc. Lets just say it's not a pretty sight. Think about it, a reptile like thing that slithers around with no legs... absolutely revolting. I have a story about a snake "run in." I was camping and I was standing on a log over a lake. I looked to my right and there was a pretty view of a mountain range. I look to my left, and there was a gross snake with his gross tongue sitting on some gross moss. I run off the log screaming my head off all the way back to the campsite and I sit in our camper in shock. That is my snake story and I will NEVER like them. Besides snakes, I am really fearless. I may not look it on the outside (being a very small 8th grader) but my insides are as hard as steel.

Connor!

I guess you could say that I am drowning in women and boy it isn't as fantastic as you would think. Maybe because those women are all my sisters. My name is Connor but it is obvious that you don't really care. You seem more interested in the fact that I am writing about a chaotic life. I should probably start this off. Hello, I am here to tell you about this loud and noisy existence I was smushed into. I have two dogs named Chloe and Miley. Chloe is a sweet yellow lab and Miley is a demon inside a pugs body. Miley is always finding trouble within the house. She pees, poops, and rips up the pillows. She takes shoes and hides them everywhere. She is what some people call a nuisance but I see past that. Chloe is just an average sweetheart. She sits their and wags her tail like its no bodies business and acts proper.

Now your probably wondering if I have any sibling and I absolutely do. I have three sisters! Can you believe it? My dogs, my sisters, and my mom all live under the same roof and you can probably imagine what that is like. A bunch of girls constant bickering and fighting about who's clothes are who's and what happened to all of their makeup and yada yada yada. Even my dogs fight over their bones and food. It's kinda ridiculous if you asked me. In my family I am considered the "good" one. I do my chores, keep quiet, and punch in and punch out like a normal person would.

I don't keep myself cooped up inside my house all day like a loner would. That would drive me insane. I have a couple friends that are exactly like me. I would love to tell you all about them but yet again, you would get bored. All of my friends and I have one thing in common. SPORTS! Sports are my escape from the obnoxious sisters that were forced upon my existence. My favorite sport is football. Football is a great way to let your anger out. This is one of the only times were you can hit someone and it would be legal. I play running back and this is one of the hardest positions. You have to have some pretty good footwork and you have to know how to take a hit. You must run through people and run fast. All those bruises and scrapes are all worth it in the end. It's about time I wrap this up. I would stay but theres not much else to tell. Adios.

-Connor

Just Me

Im Hayley, you probably do not know a lot about me.  First of all, I am a dancer.  I compete in dance all the time.  I feel good when I dance and it is fun.  I am like the Tiny Dancer.  I am very short, so it makes sense.  I have two older brothers which is good so I can be the only girl and the youngest in the family.  I have two parents that are nice and caring.  They always look out for us.  My family is very close.  I like school and learning new things.  My favorite classes are math, english, and science.  I am competitive so I always try to be the best I can be.  I like to have fun.  I can sometimes be serious but not all the time.  I like to joke around and have fun.  Living life to the fullest is what I live by.  You only live once and I like to make the most of it.  I would say I am crazy but I can be serious when I need to.  When I grow up I want to be a pediatrician because I like helping people and I like working with kids.  I want to have a family that is like mine.  We will all be really close and we will like spending time together.  For now, I am just moving along with my life documenting everything that happens so I have good memories.  I will work hard to make sure all my dreams come true.

Livin' Life in the Left Lane

I am weird.  No matter what angle you look at me from, I will always give you a slightly odd impression.  As hard as I try, I will never be normal, and I am learning to live with that fact.  I am always saying the wrong thing, or moving the wrong way.  As a human being, I will never be perfect.  And maybe, just maybe, I am okay with that.

Besides being a not-so-perfect teenage girl, my life is filled to the brim with extracurricular activities.  At least three times a week I go to soccer practice or have a soccer game.  If we have a day off, we are supposed to be running at least two miles.  Also, I love to play volleyball!  We practice twice a week and usually have a tournament every weekend.

My other hobby is baking!  I love to bake more than anything in the world.  I mean who doesn't like some good, old-fashioned cookie dough?  Or some scrumptious brownie batter?  If you don't... your crazy.  I find so much satisfaction in finishing a beautiful piece of dessert and then scarfing it all down in a short period of time.  Food is a truly amazing thing!

Finally, I am an active volunteer in my city.  I spend a lot of time in the local animal shelter and the local recycling center.  I am teaching myself how to be a good citizen in my community, while having tons and tons of fun!

Basically, I am a bizarre, busy-bee.

Though common, Emily is my name and mine alone.

From many angles, I am me.  When vacations come around, I see a key chain, and I see a name written on the front in glowing letters.  The name looks familiar because it is my name I see, but at the same time, it is not.  There are Emily's in the world, some near and some far.  These people are not me.  They do not see things the way I see them.  I peer through the looking glass, through a magnifying glass that catches everything.  I look through a mirror to see the other me, the me you don't see, the me that reveals the secrets.  There is only one Emily that can write like I write.  There is only one Emily that can dance like I dance.  There is only one Emily that can draw like I draw.  There is only one Emily that can be me.

From many angles, I am me. I write because there is only one way to completely yell and scream at someone without them being offended. There is only one way to express the feelings that describe you without feeling naked out in the open, because you can hide the feelings behind complicated words and scribbles.  Writing is about being bold or timid, but either way, you are out in the open and hiding under the desk at the same time.

From many angles, I am me.  I dance to be free.  At dance, and only one type of dance, can I be completely free. I am a tapper.  Paradiddles is what makes me me.  I paradiddle when I'm nervous, I paradiddle when I'm mad.  I paradiddle in dance, because it's what makes me me.  I'm a tapper, because when you're in tap, you can be as raucous as you desire.  In Ballet, you float on water.  In Pointe, you crack your toes on the wooden shoe you sit upon.  In Jazz, you parade around the room acting like you're all that. But in Tap, you are who you are.  You are loud, obnoxious, or you are quiet and invisible.

From many angles, I am me.  I draw to show everybody a clue, a secret about me.  Hidden beneath the depths of paint and pencil, lies a girl who wants everybody to know what she sees. In art, whether it be ceramics or drawing, you see things in a way that is unique.  One may look at rain and see despair; or they may look at rain and see a girl dancing.  So in art, when you create something you can call your own, you paint a treasure map.  When you look at the clues, and you find the X, you may be surprised by what you see.  You see a person who has buried their feelings, and when you finally see, you still won't understand.  The reason you paint or you free draw, you put emotions onto paper, that only you will see.

From many angles, I am me.  I have shown you but three angles of me.  In me, there is many more than just three.  By showing you three, I hope you see, that from many angles, I am me.

Loopy Lance

My name is Lance, and I'm loopy. Loopy as in I keep forgetting what I'm doing, my life is a huge circle. A huge circle with small gaps in the middle. The gaps in that circle, are the times I forgot what I'm doing. My head goes totally blank, and I stare at whatever is in front of me, and I'm as weak as a goldfish, in a Humans body. With this happening a lot, about three to four times a week, it's a strange kind of unknowing, it happens faster than a heart attack. I never know when I'm going to space, be a complete goner, it's like a hard Everything goes blank in my head, my muscles drop loose, and I am as useless as a pack mule without legs. Getting off topic is a big part of the circle. Imagine a circle, with gaps in it and where there is a huge line going off the circle. Well, that's what just happened. I've gotten off topic, I've forgotten to tell you about me. I'll try my best throughout this blog to stay talking about me, nothing else.

Now that you know a little bit of what goes on in my head, I can talk about myself as a person. I play tons of sports, you name it, I've played it. Skiing, Lacrosse, Soccer, Hockey, Basketball, Baseball, Waterski, Bike, Rock Climb, I've done them all, all more than once, and a little more after that. I am a smart person when it comes to IQ, I was IQ tested when I was little and scored a 141. That high of an IQ makes it easy for a person to understand and remember, just has nothing to do with how hard you try. My grades aren't that great, around a 3.1 G.P.A. I am not interested in school like I was. When I was younger, I was the spelling bee king. I won every spelling bee for around three years in a row, I was interested in words. Then I realized how much more fun sports are, than sitting in a class room, getting lectured, with words flowing through my ears. Time every second in the classroom, seems like a minute. Whereas outside, or in any sports complex, the time just flows by like a raging river of fun. School is slowly getting less and less interesting, I haven't been captivated by anything educational for the past three years. I want to be interested in something other than sports, so when I'm older, I'm not stuck. I will keep trudging through the school years, until something takes my interests. Right now, my head is in a big grey cloud, sports open up the cloud to fun for a few hours. When I get interested in something outside of sports, my cloud will rain. Much more than rain, a downpour. Until then, I'm stuck, stuck like a duck in deep schmuck.

Who I Am

Hi my name is Karina, I'm 14 years old.  I like to hangout with my friends. I'm a girl that always gets bored at home and wants to hangout with my friends. Most of the time I'm always at home. I don't really go outside that much because my mom doesn't really let me. I go out but only when she is going somewhere.  I don't like being at home at all. My mom gets mad at me because I tell her that I get bored being at home all the time. She tells me to clean the house. Sometimes I'm a shy person. When I don't know someone I get shy even though when I don't know someone. I get really shy and I don't really like who I am because I think I'm weird. I like to meet new people when they are part of my family or friends. I like to do lot of things. go shopping, and go out and eat at restaurants. My favorite animals are puppies. I think that they are adorable. When I see puppies I always want one. I have 3 puppies but one is a Chihuahua and Poodle the other ones are Poodle puppies. My poodle puppies I just got them. I fall in love with so many things that I like. My mom doesn't really like to take me with her to places because I want everything. Sometimes we go shopping and I only look for clothing. When she sees me with a lot of clothing that I like she tells me that she is not going to buy me anything.  I get mad at time because my mom starts to yell at me. I always yell at her back but most of the time I don't.

No, Not That Meyer...Noah

I used to brush my hair.  Oh, who am I kidding?  Mr. T has always called me "Hair" because he thinks I lost my comb a long time ago.  Even though I'm 13 years old, I have an obsession with Legos.  Seriously.  There's not even any room in my bedroom for my stuff because I like Legos so much.
